Question:
Who is the guy that runs across the stage at the beginning of almost every Letterman show?

I don't really watch the show that often, but there is something that always happens at the start of the show when I do watch.
Right after the guests are announced, they cut to a crane shot high above the stage. Anyway, as soon as they go to this shot you can see a guy running in the back of the stage from the left to right. A couple seconds after that Dave comes out on the right.

I don't know if this is some kind of trick on the audience or something because I don't believe that was Dave running. Also, it has to be timed perfectly for the running guy to be caught in that position and I can't believe that would happen so often.

Has anyone ever seen this? Does anyone have an explanation?

I watch David every night. That's him running across the stage. Just another mindless thing he does. David is a runner - so it doesn't surprise me.

If that's Dave, then is he doing it on purpose?

If not, then there's no way he could be late that often... and exactly late enough to get caught by the same quick shot of the stage almost every night.

I don't think that's him.

That's David Letterman himself he does it to shake off stage frieght and get ready for the show he is about to do.
