Question:
Are you disappointed that Conan O'Brien is staying in L.A. for his new show?

What's the consensus? Would you rather have Conan in L.A. or back in New York? My feeling is that Conan is out of place in L.A., a city I consider to be possibly the worst in the country. L.A. has no edge. It's a parody of a city; you can't make fun of it because in and of itself, it's a joke. As such, Conan's comedy possibilities are limited, and this is one reason why his "Tonight Show" failed. He belongs in New York. He's an easterner himself, and this is where his comedy fits. What say you?

I agree with you about L.A., but Conan will probably get more celebs from CA than in NYC. I wish he were in NY. That's where he belongs. (Leno ruined the Tonight Show)

I went to his show The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien and the reason it failed was not because its based in L.A. but rather that Conan doesn't interact with his audience. Plus he never upgraded his skits and still recycled jokes. You can't do that on the 11:35, don't get me wrong I am a Conan fan and will watch his new show. But if I could give him advice personally thats what I would say. Because when I went he came out and then he left, the audience might has well not been there. To compare all of the other talk shows that I have been an audience member of, the host comes out and talks and answers questions, which means something. Most recently I went on the TSwJay Leno and he even took pictures with people and at the end when he was done saying his lines. He ran back up to the stage and told us all thanks for coming out. Don't be mad because I don't support your theory, but reflective because this is simply my opinion.

Yes - I believe your analysis is very clear. I have thought O'Brien has always been an East Coaster on views, humor & outlook. His audience is really in NYC. He is a NY/NJ kind of guy. You would be a much better programmer than those fools in the big buildings in NYC. I have lived on both coasts at one time or another & love talk shows.
