On the Tyra show, did anyone see the "Kids on Race" episode where they were shown pictures...?

of people of different races and asked questions about them? I noticed that the woman showed a picture of a white woman and a black woman and asked which one was the "princess". All the kids said that the white woman was the princess but she was dressed in a formal dress with her hair up like she was going to prom and her picture was taken in a studio. The picture of the black woman was taken outdoors, she was wearing a collar shirt that was sort of business casual and she was barely smiling, almost like she was squinting from the sun.

Another set of people they showed was of two older gentlemen and asked who would be president. The kids said the white man but the white man was wearing a dark suit and tie and the black man was wearing a sport coat, no tie and the top button of his shirt was open.

Do you think this had anything to do with their answers?
I thought this was an interesting show but I thought the appearance of the people in the pictures should have been equal.

I also wholeheartedly agree with you, the pictures should have been equal because it would have proven that all people were equal. I won't even lie, whenever I watch Tyra's 'Focus on Race' shows I have an epiphany. All kinds of energy rushes to me about how stupid the people on there look and sound, (and I'm not talking about the kids). The kids watch TV and the media is playing a major part in what they are thinking subconsciously. However, parents aren't doing their part as to teach their kids what aren't being taught in schools. When the correct black history isn't being taught in school there's where the parents come in which is why TVs should be off during homework time and should be off in Parents-Teach sessions.

I saw that show and thought the same things. Especially about the princess. Her hair (on the white lady) was done in a style that the children would recognize as princess like. Some of the scenarios weren't presented equally. However, i think it was interesting to see thier answers on the pics that were equal. That show was very interesting, somewhat disturbing.

don't take naything on the Tyra show as being too legit. Tyra is desperately trying to be the young new Oprah but remember Oprah hs over twenty years with her show and she has perfected it.

Tyra on the ohter hand is a runway model and her show has alow budget. They tend to manipulate things a bit like the photos. Obviously there are not a lot of great thinkers on that show possibly cause they are all working for Oprah.

sounds like she would have had a great study if it weren't so biased. I would have liked to have seen the results if the black woman were dressed up and the white woman dressed down - same with the men. Right idea, Tyra - bad follow through...

True !! Both the people should have been dressed the same way coz kids look at appearances more than colour.

i saw it yes and it did disturb me. i was thinking wow, the kids are weird, but they said what they think (hopefully) but i also found it odd, that all of the kids were thinking in the same direction.
